AHS200
For our second short writing assignment you will be writing a research-based paper on a contemporary art movement of your choosing. You can chose any movement or style that was introduced from 1945, but your paper MUST be focused on the movement itself (not a specific artist or work of art for example). Below are the names of several movements you might find interesting to explore, but you are welcome to research and write about one outside of this list as well, and it does NOT necessarily need to be something covered specifically in our class. Your paper must include a well-developed argument/thesis and be supported with at least TWOacademic sources. If you are not sure if a particular source qualifies, please consult with me for clarification. A couple of notes on sources: sources like Wikipedia, History.com, and encyclopedias(physical or virtual) are NOT acceptable sources! You may use academically salient Internet-based sources, but you must be able to illustrate the validity of the source in your bibliography. Papers should be at roughly two pages double-spaced in Times New Roman, 12-point font. Images relevant to your topic as well as footnotes and a Bibliography/Works Cited page must be used and should adhere to a recognized citation format (APA, MLA, or Chicago Manual Style). This paper should be turned into via Canvas no later than Sunday, June 30th at 11:59pm.
