This week, our readings focused on Universal Design for Learning (UDL). In honour of the multiple means of expressing knowledge principle, select one of the following prompts to respond:
Reflect on the neurology of the learning brain (e.g., recognition networks, strategic networks, affective networks) and consider how the guiding principles of UDL relate to them. Use examples of online instructional design to illustrate your points.
Examine the cognitive model of multimedia and UDL. How do UDL and the cognitive model of multimedia converge, and where do they diverge?
Create a lesson plan Links to an external site. for an online asynchronous session on any topic and briefly explain how the lesson adheres to UDL guidelines of representation, engagement, action and expression. You are encouraged to use Canva, Venngage or another software tool to create this. Protip: If your plan is located on another website, experiment with using the tag Links to an external site. to display it in your discussion post.
Note 1: Topics 1 and 2 may be done in any medium you wish (e.g., text, infographics, mind maps). Note 2: As per last week, artifact creation posts may be 150-200 words, as opposed to 500-600 words long.
