WRITE MY ESSAY

Post a discussion of no fewer than 200 words (one paragraph on each topic/chapter) on SHELTER and ENERGY. As always, reflection thoughtfully on the reading and show evidence of close reading and deep thinking discussing what you learned from each and what big ideas each chapter has you thinking about and what questions it might have you pondering.
THEN, for each topic, add your own outside research in these areas–it doesn’t have to be extensive, just something new and interesting you learned in each area, for example regarding shelter (e.g. about “biotecture” or how to address the housing crisis or…) and energy (e.g., innovations, what the future holds in terms of most appropriate energy source(s), why use heat pumps, anything that interests you).
Post BEFORE class on Monday 8th and come prepared to share!
ATTACHED IS THE PDF OF CHAPTER 5 and 6.
ALSO BELOW IS MY PREVIOUS DISCUSSION POST. PLEASE USE SIMILAR TONE AND LANGUAGE BUT WRITE BETTER EVIDENCE OF CLOSE READING AND DEEP THINKING THAT FOLLOWS THE INSTRUCTIONS ABOVE. IT IS JUST AN EXAMPLE SO THAT IT WOULD NOT LOOK VERY DIFFERENT BETWEEN THE TWO DISCUSSIONS.
Takeaways Prologue and Introduction
In this chapter, the author wrote a letter for his son, River. I found this letter to be full of regret on what the world has turn into. He  shared on how the world continuously changed negatively over time due to the impact of climate change as well as, societal changes, and the world back then was different to the world today. Despite this, he was hopeful about this problem. He believes that the future generations can change the world into a better place. I think that was the main reason he wrote this letter. I also found the quote “it doesn’t matter how you draw the Pyramid of Needs; what matters is how you fill it” very true. I think that we humans are different and each of us can have a different ways to view things.
Application to real life
I think there is a lot that we could take from this. We have to understand that the world is continuously changing and what works in the past might not work in the future. The world will always have problem and it is our job to adapt to it. We humans are starting to realize that we have a environmental and societal problem that we have to solve. I think we can use the past as a lesson for the future and to not repeat the same mistakes again.
Takeaways Air
I think the concept of “Carbon Godzilla” is the main point in this chapter. I’ve never really looked at air pollution this way until i read this. I realize that air pollution is the by-product of human advancement. The importance of clean air and environmental regulations was also shared in this chapter.
Application to real life
First of all, I am glad to be able to experience a cleaner air here in LA compared to what I had back home in Indonesia. I can really feel the difference and how it affected my health. Having clean air is really important and I think we should focus on that because it is essential for our life and everyone should be able to access clean air freely.
Takeaways Temperature
In this chapter, he emphasized how the global temperature is rising due to climate change and its effects on ecosystems, and human societies. I found the part where he talks about Camels to be very interesting. He highlighted how camels has adapted to changing climates and uses their advantage for a totally different condition. He also talks about how this increase in heat has affected ecosystems including the decline of trout populations and changes in sugar maple sap. I think that this is a sign that we should take action to combat climate change especially when heat already takes more lives than everything else.
Application to real life
I think that personally there is not much I can do other than supporting renewable energy and reducing carbon footprint. But I think what is important is to share awareness on this subject and educate people that don’t know about this problem.
